Happy New Year and THREE new AKC breeds!
Share
Happy New Year, everyone! Hopefully, this year will be more amazing than last year was for all of us. I'm enjoying the heck out of it so far! Having good days and great times!
Also!!!:
The AKC today welcomed three breeds to full AKC recognition. According to the AKC article, "The Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka, a dark, curly-coated toy breed from Russia; the Basset Fauve de Bretagne, a hound with royal heritage; and the Teddy Roosevelt Terrier, named in honor of a U.S. president, are set to earn full American Kennel Club recognition on January 1, 2026."
They have been undergoing the process of full breed recognition for a while, and have all been in AKC's Foundation Stock Service (FSS) during this process. They've all gotten to the point that they have met all of the AKC's rigorous standards for becoming full-fledged breeds allowed to compete in conformation classes as well as the one class and all the other events allowed prior (competing for Canine Good Citizen, Miscellaneous Class and all normal events such as agility, Barn Hunt, Fast CAT, Diving Dogs, AKC Rally, AKC Scent Work, obedience, AKC Therapy Dog, and tracking).
Congratulations on making the full breed recognition! The breeders, competitors and fans of these breeds have worked hard and deserve some serious kudos! And yes, as soon as I get that far, they will be getting goodies in the shop as well as all the other breeds!
